Wolverhampton Wanderers have turned down an offer for Raul Jimenez from Juventus, which an Italian report claims included Aaron Ramsey as part exchange.

The Mexican striker enjoyed a prolific season both at home and in Europe, netting 17 Premier League goals and playing some part in 45% of Wolves' top flight goals. He also helped steer the club to the Europa League quarter finals, before a late goal against Sevilla saw Nuno Espirito Santo's side eliminated.

His exploits haven't gone unnoticed, with Manchester United and Juventus both linked with a move in recent weeks. It now appears that La Vecchia Signora have made the first move, amid reports from Corriere dello Sport (via the Daily Star) that claim Wolves have turned down a bid that included Wales midfielder Ramsey.

The Welsh midfielder is understood to be surplus to requirements under new manager Andrea Pirlo, who was brought in to replace the sacked Maurizio Sarri less than two weeks ago.

Ramsey still has three years remaining on the contract he signed last summer, penned following the expiry of his deal at Arsenal. There is contrasting information on his future, however, with Sky Sports Italia claiming that he's 'expected' to stay with I Bianconeri for the coming season.

Were he depart Turin for Molineux at some point, Wolves would be getting their hands on an experienced Premier League campaigner. Manager Nuno Espirito Santo has already admitted that he needs a bigger squad for next season, an admission that he made in the wake of his side's defeat to Sevilla.

Ramsey would appear - on the surface at least - to be a more than suitable fit for Nuno's renowned 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 formation, which allows his side to soak up pressure being hitting opponents on the counter attack.

He won't end up at the club though unless Wolves significantly reduce their asking price for Jimenez. Previous reports have suggested that a £90m price tag has been placed on the 29-year-old's head, which would suggest that the club have absolutely no interest in doing a deal.

With Manchester United also interested, Wolves' resolve will be tested in the next couple of months - but until then, it's back to the drawing board for Juventus as they look to rebuild their squad after another disappointing Champions League campaign.
