Tottenham made light work of the first leg of their last 32 Europa League tie with Austrian minnows Wolfsberger as strikes from Son Heung-min, Gareth Bale, Lucas Moura and Carlos Vinicius helped them to a 4-1 victory at the Puskas Arena in Hungary.

Son stooped to head in the opener before Bale whipped in a brilliant second. Lucas later seared through the Wolfsberger defence to add a delightful third.

There was a noticeable drop off in the second half from Spurs as the 'hosts' pulled one back when Moussa Sissoko conceded a penalty which Michael Liendl scored. Christopher Wernitznig also saw a thunderous effort cannon off the underside of the crossbar.

A few more nervy moments looked like they could have resulted in Tottenham's advantage being reduced, though substitute Carlos Vinicius tapped in a fourth to give Jose Mourinho's side an ideal advantage before next week's return leg in north London.

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Hugo Lloris (GK) - 7/10 - Made a big stop in clawing Dario Vizinger's header onto the bar. Looked much more commanding and proactive in dealing with anything that came his way than in the defeats to Everton and Manchester City.

Matt Doherty (RB) - 7/10 - Earned an assist with the pass to Bale. Won plenty of aerial battles in what must have been a confidence boosting evening.

Toby Alderweireld (CB) - 6/10 - Got spun rather embarrassingly when Wolfsberger created a rare chance, but won Tottenham supporters back with a throwback long ball to the onrushing Dele Alli.

Eric Dier (CB) - 6/10 - A couple of dodgy moments but wasn't overly tested in central defence.

Ben Davies (LB) - 6/10 - A little wobbly, especially when he jumped unnecessarily to block a cross and was instead sold a dummy. Hasn't done enough recently to suggest he can keep Sergio Reguilon out of the team once the Spaniard is fully fit again.

2. Midfielders

Moussa Sissoko (CM) - 5/10 - Was doing fine at his usual shtick before he gave away a penalty for a needless foul, which Liendl converted. Quite hurried and disappointing before he was eventually substituted.

Harry Winks (CM) - 7/10 - Is the term 'Winksian' in the dictionary yet? Well, Harry Winks put in a very Harry Winks performance on Thursday night. Assisted Lucas Moura's goal too, though that was more about the Brazilian's run than the midfielder's pass.

Dele Alli (AM) - 8/10 - Ran the show during the first half, with the flicks and tricks that have largely failed this season coming off on Thursday night. A performance befitting of a 'good Dele Alli', as Mourinho likes to say.

3. Forwards

Gareth Bale (RW) - 9/10 - Provided the assist for Son's opener and reminded everyone of his quality with a strike of his own, chopping back onto his left foot and whizzing a shot into the fair corner. An excellent night's work before being substituted just after the hour mark.

Son Heung-min (ST) - 7/10 - Opened the scoring with a stooping header from Bale's cross. Sensibly subbed at half time for Carlos Vinicius.

Lucas Moura (LW) - 7/10 - Waltzed through some very suspect Wolfsberger defending and slotted in for Tottenham's third. Hard to assess such an erratic performance otherwise. Brought off alongside Bale.

4. Substitutes

Carlos Vinicius - 7/10 - Bagged himself another cup goal by prodding in Erik Lamela's header. Was probably miffed not to start with Harry Kane not even in the squad but definitely made his mark.

Steven Bergwijn - 5/10 - Buzzed around after his introduction but nothing of note.

Erik Lamela - 7/10 - Injected some zip just as Tottenham's attack seemed to be flagging. Assisted Vinicius for the fourth goal.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg - 5/10

Tanguy Ndombele - 6/10
