The National Football League has long held games on British soil. Dating all the way back to 2007, over 30 NFL matches have been hosted in London, with plenty more to come.

Wembley Stadium was the venue initially used to host NFL matches, with the occasional game at Twickenham, but the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has shared duties in recent years.

The north London ground has held seven games so far, with an eighth coming on Sunday 15 October, and Spurs have recently confirmed a deal to make the venue the 'home of the NFL in the UK' until 2030.

But why the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium? Here is everything you need to know.

Despite Wembley having hosted the majority of NFL games in the past, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is the only venue specially designed to host American football matches outside of the United States.

As a result, Daniel Levy has managed to strike a deal with the NFL to play at least two regular-season games every year until 2030 in north London.

Speaking about the new agreement, Levy said: "NFL gamedays at our stadium are special occasions where we see fans from around the world descend on Tottenham, bringing so much vibrancy to the High Road and supporting our local economy."

Hosting NFL matches will undoubtedly be a good earner for Levy and Tottenham, while also expanding Spurs' global reach.
