Brentford head coach Thomas Frank has admitted Romeo Beckham is an 'interesting' and 'promising' player following his surprise loan move to the Bees.

The 20-year-old, son of Manchester United and England legend David Beckham, joined the Bees on loan until the end of the season from Inter Miami's youth affiliate side. He was previously on the books at Arsenal's academy.

Though such a move is a high profile one for Brentford, Beckham will enter the club's 'B' team setup, though Frank has revealed his admiration of the forward.

"Yeah, I've seen him. I think he's an interesting player. We hope, of course, like a lot of others that he can make it to the first team," Frank said of Beckham.

"Yeah, [he is] promising. Anyone who has got a contract here - be it a permanent deal or loan deal - there is always the opportunity to stay, of course."

Brentford 'B' coach Neil MacFarlane has also been complimentary of Beckham since his arrival in west London, with his main aim to maintain fitness during Inter Miami's off-season.

"We've been absolutely delighted with Romeo since he arrived with us," MacFarlane said.

"He came to us from Inter Miami with the aim of working with us during their close season. Romeo has applied himself unbelievably well, he’s really bought into the culture and the group which he has become a big part of.

"I love his standards and the way he conducts himself on and off the pitch.

"He’s been able to get fitter and fitter during his time with us and it leaves him in a good place to now step forward having joined us on loan.

"I think it’s testament to us as a club, and as a B team, that Inter Miami have asked us to work with him and trust in us to continue working with him to help him with his development."

Brentford's decision to leave England's traditional youth team structure and form a 'B' team has paid dividends in recent seasons. The likes of full internationals Chris Mepham and Marcus Forss have been sold on for considerable fees, while others such as Mads Roerslev and Mads Bech Sorensen have graduated to the first team.
