West Ham vs Leicester: TV channel, live stream, team news & prediction

The second week of 2021/22 Premier League football comes to an end on Monday night, when Leicester City travel to east London to take on West Ham United.

The two teams both made perfect starts to the new campaign, with the Hammers bagging a 4-2 win over Newcastle United in an electric affair at St James' Park, and the Foxes edging to a 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

There was little to separate the two clubs last year. The Foxes finished fifth in the league table, just one place and one point above the Hammers. There will be little to separate them again on Monday, but what shape are the two sides in heading into the final match of gameweek two?

West Ham team news

There is very little for David Moyes to worry about when welcoming Leicester to east London in terms of injury, as the Scotsman has almost a full pool to pick from. Competition for the gloves is fierce, with Alphonse Areola pushing for a start ahead of Lukasz Fabianski.

It's unlikely that Moyes will make many changes at all to the team which beat Newcastle however, allowing the same group to prove themselves in front of the West Ham faithful. Michail Antonio will be aiming to break Paulo Di Canio's record of 47 Premier League goals, which he equalled against the Magpies.

The forward could become West Ham's all-time highest scorer in the English top flight.

Leicester team news

The good news for Leicester is that wing-back Timothy Castagne is finally back and available for Brendan Rodgers to select. The Belgian star suffered a nasty facial injury at Euro 2020, and that issue has kept him out of action ever since.

Jannik Vestergaard looked set to be awarded his first start for the club after making the switch from Premier League rivals Southampton, but misses out through injury.

Last weekend's match-winner Jamie Vardy leads the line, despite competition from Kelechi Iheanacho and Patson Daka.

West Ham vs Leicester head-to-head record

The past three seasons have made for interesting reading in the head-to-head department. In 2018/19, neither team could get one over their opponents, drawing both encounters 1-1 and 2-2. The next year was the year of the Fox, with Leicester claiming 2-1 and 4-1 wins over the Hammers.

But last campaign saw David Moyes outwit Rodgers on two occasions, bagging a shock 3-0 victory away from home in the first meeting, and then surviving a late comeback to secure a vital 3-2 win in their race for European qualification.

It's balanced on a knife-edge, then.

West Ham vs Leicester score prediction

Both the Hammers and the Foxes will be raring to go after their opening day victories, but only one of them can continue their 100% start to the new campaign. West Ham fans will want to give their side the edge, but Leicester boast so much quality across the pitch.

This one genuinely could go either way, but we fancy Rodgers' men to just about sneak it in an entertaining battle. Whatever happens though, it won't be a stroll in the park for either European hopeful.
