West Ham midfielder Declan Rice has accepted he will be staying at the club next season after their £90m asking price proved too much for his suitors.

Rice, who has three years remaining on his contract (and the option for a fourth), has recently snubbed two offers of a new deal as he looks to keep his options open, with Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City all keen on him.

Of those three teams, it's Chelsea who have pushed hardest for Rice, but West Ham have never played ball and continue to value the 22-year-old at around £90m - too much for a side close to signing Romelu Lukaku for £97.5m.

With his suitors having other plans in the transfer market, the Daily Mail state Rice has accepted that a move away from the club will not be happening this summer and he is now prepared to spend at least another season at West Ham.

It's important to note that Rice is not unhappy at West Ham and he is excited about his first taste of European football under David Moyes, but he has never hidden his desire to play regular Champions League football.

The Hammers obviously still have some work to do before they can make those kind of promises to Rice, so he plans to keep his options open by declining a new contract for the time being.

Should West Ham fail to finish in the top four this year, Rice is again expected to be in the headlines next summer, when the big boys will be on the look-out for expensive signings like him.

Rice's asking price would likely drop slightly by that point, but he would still have three years left on his contract if West Ham trigger their option as expected, so they are under no pressure to sell whatsoever.

However, with Rice's desires to play European football well known, West Ham may choose to cash in on him while his value is at its highest.
