Bayern Munich moved five points clear at the Bundesliga summit with a 3-1 victory over Werder Bremen at the Weser-Stadion on Saturday afternoon.

Bayern took the lead after 22 minutes, Thomas Muller flicking Joshua Kimmich's corner into the path of Leon Goretzka, and the midfielder powered a header home.

The visitors doubled their advantage 13 minutes later as Serge Gnabry applied the finishing touches to a flowing Bayern team move. Robert Lewandowski added a third in the second half, sweeping into an empty net as Werder again failed to deal with a Kimmich corner.

Niclas Fullkrug pulled one back for Werder as the clock ticked down, prodding into an empty net after Manuel Neuer could only tip Milot Rashica's effort straight into his path. However, it proved to be only a consolation as Bayern ran out comfortable winners.

Let's get into some player ratings.

Bayern Munich player ratings

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Manuel Neuer (GK) - 6/10 - Initially saved well from Rashica, but palmed his effort straight into the path of Niclas Fullkrug for Werder's consolation.

Benjamin Pavard (RB) - 6/10 - Had a pretty comfortable afternoon defensively, got forward well on occasions.

Jerome Boateng (CB) - 6/10 - Caught in behind a couple of times in the early stages of the second half - and this was the case for Werder's consolation. Tidy when keeping it short, occasionally wasteful when going long.

Lucas Hernandez (CB) - 6/10 - Won a couple of big headers and brought the ball out confidently from the back. Left a gaping hole between himself and Boateng for Werder's goal.

Alphonso Davies (LB) - 6/10 - Sent in a teasing delivery in the first half flashing across the face of goal, begging to be buried. Looked a little bit vulnerable defensively towards the latter stages of the game.

2. Midfielders

Joshua Kimmich (CM) - 8/10 - Fired a sweetly-struck volley just over in the first half, before providing the set piece delivery from which Bayern opened the scoring. Fed Muller in the build up to Bayern's second.

Leon Goretzka (CM) - 8/10 - Gave Bayern the lead with a pinpoint header from a corner, escaping his marker and planting a header in the top corner. Instrumental alongside Kimmich as Bayern dominated in midfield.

Thomas Muller (CAM) - 9/10 - Cleverly flicked on Kimmich's corner for Goretzka to head home Bayern's opener, before teeing up Gnabry for Bayern's second with a sumptuous cushioned through ball.

3. Forwards

Kingsley Coman (RW) - 8/10 - A constant nuisance down the right flank in the first half, before switching to the left flank in the second period - where again, he was a right nuisance.

Robert Lewandowski (ST) - 7/10 - Has a black eye pending after taking an elbow to the face inside the opening exchanges. Denied four times in the second half - twice by the woodwork and twice by cracking Jiri Pavlenka saves - before eventually sweeping home Bayern's third. And then he hit the post again.

Serge Gnabry (LW) - 7/10 - Headed a good opportunity from close range over and hit the post with a cross-come-shot in the first half, before netting Bayern's second with a confident finish. Switched flanks with Coman at half time.

4. Substitutes

Leroy Sane - 5/10

Eric Choupo-Moting - 5/10

Marc Roca - 5/10

Jamal Musiala - 6/10

Bouna Sarr - 5/10
