Mumbai City FC head coach, Des Buckingham has reiterated the need for his players to convert the chances they get in front of goal ahead of their upcoming clash against Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya in the AFC Champions League on 11 April.

Mumbai struggled in their opening game of the competition, losing 3-0 to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Shabab last Friday and despite showing intent on the pitch, the Islanders failed to make the most of their chances in front of goal.

The 37-year-old wants his side to make the most of their chances as the competition is decided on fine margins.

"It's  about us adding that final third (quality) to our game plan to make sure that the good play that we have, we can try again. I felt we got a good possession against a very good team. I felt we created good build up from the back, from the goalkeeper, through the midfield. The one learning for us is now we need to take that into the final third to create opportunities and chances on the opposition goal, because we found ourselves in really good positions, but just couldn't quite get the output that we wanted, which Al-Shabab certainly did. So that's something that we'll take," the Englishman said in a press conference.

Buckingham who has managed the New Zealand national team in the past will be hoping that his side can get their campaign back on track and win their first game in the competition on Monday.
