Ten days removed from their last-gasp victory over Wolves, Arsenal travel to relegation-threatened Watford looking to strengthen their top four hopes.

Watford, meanwhile, remain marooned in the relegation zone, although they will take solace from their 0-0 draw with Man Utd at Old Trafford last weekend.

Arteta is expected to welcome Emile Smith Rowe back into the side after the midfielder was forced to miss the victory over Wolves through illness.

However, the Gunners boss is less convinced on the fitness of Takehiro Tomiyasu after the Japanese sustained another calf injury in training recently.

Watford vs Arsenal head-to-head record

Although their respective training ground's lie just a stone's throw away from each other, these sides have shared a frosty relationship in recent years.

Arsenal were less than pleased after a 2-1 defeat at Vicarage Road in 2017/18, with supporters accusing Richarlison of simulation before Hornets captain Troy Deeney accused the Gunners of lacking "cojones".

Arsenal are unbeaten against Watford since that evening, although Smith Rowe's solitary strike in their 1-0 win over the Hornets at the Emirates Stadium prompted an angry reaction from then-Watford boss Claudio Ranieri who believed the Gunners were unsportsmanlike by not giving the ball back to their opponents.

With Man Utd visiting the Etihad Stadium in the Manchester Derby later the same day, Arsenal have a huge opportunity to prove their Champions League credentials.

Top four is mathematically in Arsenal's hands, but with trips to face Chelsea and Tottenham still to come, these are the matches in which the Gunners must secure maximum points.

Watford showed their defensive resilence in their draw with Man Utd last weekend and the onus will be on Arsenal to break them down.

Prediction: Watford 0-1 Arsenal
