- Vitor Roque is due to join Barcelona in January
- The 18-year-old is one of the highest rated young players in the world
- He is joining Barca in a deal worth up to £52m
Vitor Roque has named Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and young Lamine Yamal as the Barcelona star he's excited to play with when he joins the club.
Barca confirmed the £52m signing of the talented Roque from Athletico Paranaense, but the clubs agreed that the forward would only join his new team in January - provided Barcelona are able to register the youngster's contract due to salary gap restrictions.
The 18-year-old is set to join Barcelona as one of the most highly regarded young players in the world thanks to his stunning form in Brazil. Despite his tender age, Roque managed a very impressive 20 goals in 41 appearances during the 2023 season.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo ahead of his transfer, Roque was asked which players he's most excited to work alongside: "Lewandowski, Raphinha, now Lamine. It's going to be very special to play with all of them."
Roque is likely set to deputise for legendary forward Lewandowski up front when he joins Barca, with the Polish international now being 35-years-old and currently dealing with an ankle injury which has seen him miss the last three games.
Like Lewandowski, Roque has recently been struggling with an ankle injury - suffered in a recent game against Internacional. The young forward was stretchered off in the game, but was keen to explain that his recovery is going well.
"I'm very well, I'm recovering well, my recovery is being optimal. I'm very young, so that also helps a lot," he explained.
"Every day I go to the training centre, I do physiotherapy, I always do two sessions and sometimes I also treat myself here at night. I have the idea of still playing with Athletico. If everything goes well with the recovery, I think I will play [before the end of the season]."
