Virgil van Dijk bemused by lack of appreciation for Mohamed Salah's goal record

Liverpool centre-back Virgil van Dijk has argued that teammate Mohamed Salah's goalscoring record does not get the credit it deserves.
Salah bagged the winner in Saturday's 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest, moving level with Robbie Fowler into sixth on the club's all-time scoring charts, matching his return of 183 goals in 71 fewer games.
The goal marked the continuation of another stellar individual campaign for Salah who, despite Liverpool's wider struggles, has still racked up 27 goals and 11 assists in 44 games in all competitions.
"Mo will definitely be seen as a legend. He’s such an important player for us,” Van Dijk said after the Forest game.

“At a later stage I think the things he’s done will be appreciated a lot more by the outside world.
“For us, we appreciate everything he does day in, day out. We see all the hard work that he puts in.”
Salah is now just three goals behind Steven Gerrard on the club's scoring charts, after which he will seek to overtake fourth-placed Billy Liddell's 228 goals.
Roger Hunt and Gordon Hodgson trail Ian Rush as Liverpool's overall record scorer - the Welshman scored 346 goals in 660 appearances in red, playing a central role to the club's success in the 1980s.
