Vinicius Junior has signed a new four-year contract at Real Madrid, the 14-time Champions League winners have confirmed.

The 23-year-old, who arrived in the Spanish capital from Flamengo in 2018, has committed his future to Madrid until 2027 after months of negotiating a new deal.

90min revealed earlier in October that Madrid were finalising the terms of Vinicius' new deal, which was agreed in principle earlier in the year, and the Brazilian's contract, as is tradition in Spain, is understood to contain a release clause of €1bn. It also makes him one of the highest paid players at the club.

Vinicius has established himself as one of the world's most electrifying wingers over the past couple of years, putting behind him a slow start to life at the Santiago Bernabeu to become one of the first names on the team sheet.

He scored a career-best 23 goals in all competitions last season - beating his tally from the previous season by one - to build on scoring the winner in the 2022 Champions League final against Liverpool.

Carlo Ancelotti has given Vinicius a new role in the team this season, adapting the club's system to accommodate summer signing Jude Bellingham, and he is now playing as a central striker after Karim Benzema's surprise departure to Saudi Arabia.

He has impressed there in the early weeks of the 2023/24 campaign, but it's out on the wing where Vinicius does most of his damage for Madrid, twisting defenders inside out with his quick feet before burning past them with an express change of pace. His consistency at the highest level has earned a place in the Champions League team of the year for the past two seasons - something he has also achieved in La Liga.

Vinicius also picked up the Club World Cup Golden Ball in 2022, awarded to the best player in the competition, and scored for Brazil during at last year's World Cup during the 4-1 dismantling of South Korea.

Real Madrid have also negotiated new deals for Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde recently, securing the futures of some of the club's brighest young talents.
