Vinicius Junior has confirmed he is deep in talks with Real Madrid over a contract extension at the Santiago Bernabeu, while he has opened up on Kylian Mbappe's decision to stay at PSG.
The Brazilian winger remains on the same deal he signed when he first moved to Real as a hot prospect in 2018, but he has since exploded into one of the game's top forwards and racked up 21 goals and 20 assists in 51 games this season.
Throughout his time at Real, Vinicius has long been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, but not only did he snub the French side's interest in a recent interview with El Larguero, but he actually revealed that he is close to an extension.
"I'm happy here, I'm close to my renewal, we're moving forwards and I'm very happy at the biggest club in the world," he said.
"I don't want to leave here, I want to stay as long as Marcelo, Karim [Benzema] and Luka [Modric] have stayed, players who have made a very beautiful story and I want to continue like them. I'm a Madrid guy and I am happy here."
Listen now to 90min's brand new podcast, Talking Transfers, with Scott Saunders, Graeme Bailey& Toby Cudworth. This week they discuss West Ham's Declan Rice contract plans, Gabriel Jesus' Manchester City future and how Aston Villa still want Yves Bissouma despite adding Boubacar Kamara to their ranks. There's also chat on Kylian Mbappe's decision to stay at PSG, Aurielen Tchouameni & Mohamed Salah.
Real's plan had been to play Vinicius alongside Mbappe, who threw a spanner in the works by extending his Paris Saint-Germain contract when he had been expected to move to the Bernabeu on a free transfer.
When asked for his feelings on Mbappe's decision, Vinicius said: "This is a topic we cannot discuss right now. Each player has his own decision and he has decided to stay in Paris. That's it.
"We have a lot of players here who are progressing and evolving to have a good future in Madrid, which is the best and most beautiful place there is.
"I don't know what Mbappe is thinking, I don't know what other players think, I only know what I think. We cannot speak about what we do not know."
