Victor Osimhen has insisted he has forgiven Napoli for posting a disparaging TikTok video earlier in the 2023/24 season.

The striker threatened to take legal action against the club in September after the Serie A champions posted a video on TikTok mocking his missed penalty in a draw with Bologna.

Speaking after winning the Best Male Player Award at the 2023 CAF award ceremony, Osimhen stated that the incident is now behind him and that he is "happy" that the situation has been resolved.

"I must clarify something," he said. "I was not treated badly by Napoli or De Laurentiis. I’m sorry to say this word, but it was a stupid error from somebody who thought he could use a thing like that to joke at a crucial moment.

"I was certainly not happy, but De Laurentiis, his son Edoardo and many at the club have supported me.

"They explained the situation, and even the person responsible for it was really nice to me. That was the most important thing. I spoke to that person and he proved to be deeply sorry. Everything has been solved, so I am happy with them. Now I look to the future to leave it behind. This story belongs to the past."

Despite these comments, Osimhen's future at Napoli still remains up in the air. 90min recently reported that, with negotiations over a new contract at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium not going as planned, Chelsea are ready to make an offer to sign the striker during the January transfer window.

A contingency plan in case the Nigeria star does leave is also being put in place by Napoli. The club are currently scouring Europe for potential replacements for Osimhen, with Bayer Leverkusen star Victor Boniface and Lille's Jonathan David being among the players of interest to the Serie A champions.
