Victor Lindelof update after suffering breathing difficulties

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has said that ‘everything seems to be okay’ regarding Victor Lindelof, who was substituted during the club’s Premier League win over Norwich after experiencing pain in his chest and difficulty breathing.

The Swede was immediately withdrawn in the 74th minute when he suddenly appeared to be in discomfort and began clutching his chest, with medical staff taking no risks.

Heart and cardiac issues have re-emerged as a prominent concern in football in recent months, with Christian Eriksen, Sergio Aguero and Caroline Graham Hansen all undergoing treatment.

Rangnick was asked about Lindelof post-match and fans were relieved for a positive update.

“He had a collision. He can’t even remember what it was. But he was struggling to breathe and felt pain on his chest,” the United boss explained to Sky Sports. “Right now, [medical staff] have checked him and done all the tests and everything seems to be okay.”

United goalkeeper David de Gea had earlier spoken about his teammate and insisted that player safety should come before any football match, alluding the likes of Eriksen and Aguero.

“When we've seen some players who are feeling a bit [unwell]…I don't know what was going on but it was like he was feeling his breathing,” De Gea also told Sky Sports.

"We've already seen Eriksen, Aguero, so sometimes it's difficult to see your player acting like this. It was better to change. It was like difficulty breathing, he was feeling something strange…the game, the football doesn't matter, it's life, it's [best] to be safe.”
