The USWNT is traveling down under with a young roster, featuring five uncapped players and 12 who have made 10 or fewer appearances. Longtime stalwarts including Alyssa Naeher, Sam Mewis and Julie Ertz were left out of the roster due to injury.

Head coach Vlatko Andonovski said that this match will serve to get to know the young players in a tough road environment. The coach hopes to form the new generation as several older figures look to retire.

“Australia is an incredible team,” Andonovski said. “They’re playing at home, long travel with lots of fans. We’ll find out very fast who's cut for big games under pressure.”
