The US women’s national team will host Colombia in two June friendly matches to prepare for the upcoming 2023 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and the Concacaf W Championship.

The first match will take place on June 25 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado before the two nations travel to Salt Lake City to meet at Rio Tinto Stadium for the second round.

The two friendlies will also be the last before the USWNT heads into summer tournaments.

“Colombia has a good chance to make it to the World Cup and both teams will be in our final preparations for our qualifying tournaments, so I expect some highly competitive matches between players who are competing to represent their countries in some really important games,” said U.S. head coach Vlatko Andonovski.

"When we get to Colorado, we’ll be coming off a stretch of more than two months that the players have been with their clubs and away from the National Team environment, so we’ll be looking to get maximum value out of our last days and games together before we go to Mexico for qualifying.”

Colombia is ranked 26th in the World, and second in South America behind Brazil.

The games also serve as preparation for the visitors as Colombia hosts the 2022 Copa America Femenina from July 8 to July 30 in Armenia, Bucaramanga, and Cali. That tournament, like the Concacaf W Championship, works to determine which nations earn a direct ticket to the 2023 FIFA World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
