The all-time leading goal scorers in USWNT history
The United States women’s national team has dominated the international stage for as long as anyone can remember, possessing some of the fiercest talent to ever play the sport.
Players like Kristine Lilly and Alex Morgan have provided tremendous entertainment over the years, and the last decade has seen an exponential growth in women’s football - leading to broken records and a sharp increase in goals.
In 2013, Abby Wambach surpassed Mia Hamm’s legendary record of 158 goals for the national team to become the new record scorer. Since then, no player has beaten Wambach’s record - though Carli Lloyd could be the chosen one.

11. Megan Rapinoe (59)
After scoring in the 2019 FIFA World Cup, Megan Rapinoe’s celebration became the gesture heard around the world - and no one could think of that pose without associating it with the USWNT legend.
That year, Rapinoe won the Ballon d’Or Feminin and the title Best FIFA Women’s player, and she's featured in every major tournament since making her USWNT debut back in 2011.
With plenty of years left in the tank, expect Rapinoe's goal tally to rise sharply.
10. Shannon MacMillan (60)
Shannon MacMillan first made her USWNT debut in 1993, and went on to record 60 goals in 175 appearances.
She stands as a World Cup champion, Olympic gold and silver medalist, and in 2002, was named United States Athlete of the Year for her contributions to the national team.
At the time of her retirement in 2005, MacMillan was USWNT's sixth-leading goal scorer.
9. Christen Press (61)
After the 2019 World Cup, Christen Press became a fan favorite.
She first appeared for the national team in 2013 during an international friendly against Scotland, and has gone to score 61 goals for USWNT. A regular at every major competition, she has World Cup and Olympic games appearances under her belt.
8. Cindy Parlow (75)
After a successful career as a USWNT player, Cindy Parlow is now the president of the United States Soccer Federation.
She stands as a two-time Olympic gold medalist and one time FIFA World Cup champion. She retired from football after recording a whopping 75 goals for the national team in all competitions.
In 2013, she made her transition from player to head coach by leading the Portland Thorns to their first championship title in their inaugural season of the National Women’s Soccer League.
7. Tiffeny Milbrett (100)
Tiffeny Milbrett played for USWNT's Under-20 squad for many years before switching to the senior setup in 1995.
That same year, she joined the team at the World Cup, proving herself among a vastly talented roster. She went on to feature and win gold at the Olympics in 1996, scoring the game-winning goal in the decisive game against Australia.
She went on to score 100 goals in all competitions, and was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in May 2018.
6. Michelle Akers (107)
In 1985, Michelle Akers made her debut for the United States women’s national team and quickly played an integral role in any future success.
She featured in the 1991 and 1999 World Cup victories, as well as winning gold at the 1996 Olympics.
In addition to lifting the trophy at the 1991 World Cup, Akers won the Golden Shoe after scoring 10 goals in the tournament. She was honoured as FIFA Female Player of the Century in 2002.
5. Alex Morgan (110)
Alex Morgan has become a global icon ever since she first pulled on the United States women's national team jersey.
Her debut came against Mexico in March 2010, and she's been a part of
three USWNT World Cup rosters, most famously scoring and celebrating in the 2019 tournament in France.
Morgan's first real impact was at the 2011 World Cup, when she scored in the semi-final and final despite being the youngest player in the squad.
4. Carli Lloyd (125)
NJ/NY Gotham midfielder Carli Lloyd has been a part of USWNT history since debuting in 2005 against Ukraine and scoring her first international goal in 2006 against Taiwan.
Lloyd has scored well over a century of goals, astonishingly playing her country more than 300 times. She is a two-time Olympic gold medalist, and multiple World Cup winner.
3. Kristine Lilly (130)
Kristine Lilly made her USWNT debut way back in 1987, when she was still attending high school.
As one of the youngest players to join the squad, Lilly worked hard to soon become one of the most successful. In an incredible 354 appearances, she scored 130 goals - and became a national icon while doing it.
She played in five editions of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, starting in 1991, lifting the trophy in her first year and 1999. Lilly is also an Olympic gold medalist, winning in 1996 and 2004, while earning a silver medal in 2000.
2. Mia Hamm (158)
The legendary Mia Hamm made her first USWNT appearance in 1987 at the tender age of 15.
She formed part of the United States women’s national team until 2004, recording 158 goals to become the second leading goalscorer in team history.
Hamm also played in four World Cups and three Olympic games, finishing her distinguished career as one of the most decorated players in national football.

Since breaking Hamm’s record in 2013, Abby Wambach stands as the United States Women’s national team leading goal scorer in all competitions.
She debuted for USWNT in 2001 against Germany, before winning every major competition imaginable over a long and incredibly successful career. Her first international came on 27 April, 2002 during a friendly against Finland - and she'd go on to finish an international legend with 184.
