USMNT drawn in same group as England for 2022 World Cup
The US men’s national team have been drawn in the same group as England, Iran and the winner of the European playoff match between Wales/Scotland/Ukraine for the 2022 World Cup.
The American side clinched a spot to the tournament after finishing the qualifying cycle in third place of the Concacaf table with 25 points, behind Mexico and Canada.
After failing to qualify in 2018, the USMNT is back.
The USMNT is familiar with their opponents, having previously faced England in the 2010 World Cup, ending in a 1-1 draw and losing 2-1 to Iran in the 1998 edition of the tournament.
“They’ve got some very good players and we know what they are capable of as a nation, so that one in particular is an intriguing game,” added Gareth Southgate after the draw.
