USMNT learn group stage opponents for Copa America 2024
- USA will compete in the Copa America for the first time since 2016
- USMNT fell in the semifinals in their most recent appearance
- The team is expected to advance out of Group C and have discovered their opponents for next year's tournament
The US men's national team are all set for Copa America 2024, with Gregg Berhalter's side now knowing who they'll face in the group stage next summer.
The Stars and Stripes will be looking to avoid another semifinal clash against Lionel Messi and Argentina, but first they'll have to navigate Group C that includes Bolivia, Panama and Uruguay.
Berhalter's squad will begin their campaign on June 23 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, against Bolivia. The South American nation are no pushovers by any means, but the US will be expected to start their Copa America campaign off with three points.
Next for USA will be a clash with Panama, who are a familiar foe in the Concacaf Nations League and the Gold Cup. Just under six months ago, the USMNT fell to Panama in a penalty shootout in the semifinals of the Gold Cup, with rivals Mexico going on to conquer the tournament with Jaime 'Jimmy Lozano at the helm.
The Stars and Stripes and Panama meet on June 27 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. It will be the first time since 2015 the US has played in Atlanta and their first ever game at Atlanta United's home ground.
Things then get a bit hairier for the USMNT, especially if they haven't wrapped up qualification by the time matchday three of the group stage rolls around. The team takes on South American giants Uruguay on July 1 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, in what will be a huge clash between two teams that possess plenty of talent all over the field.
A probable scenario would see both teams already through to the quarterfinals, setting up a game all about seeding for the knockouts. But you never really know in soccer -- especially with Berhalter at the helm for the US.
