So there you have it, folks. The second iteration of the UEFA Nations League group stages is in the books.

During a matchday in which finalists, promotions and relegations were confirmed, the sheer volume of fixtures means it may have been tricky to have caught up on exactly what went down on Tuesday and Wednesday night.

To fill you in, here's a full run down of the action from the final matchday.

1. League A

Finalists: Italy, Belgium, France, Spain

France's victory over Portugal on matchday five meant they'd already qualified for the finals by the time they beat Sweden 4-2 on Tuesday, while the Portuguese overcame Croatia 3-2 in Split.

Sweden's defeat means Croatia survived on goal difference in A3.

Les Bleus, meanwhile, were joined in next Autumn's finals by Spain, Italy and Belgium.

Spain's remarkable 6-0 trouncing of Germany was undoubtedly the standout result of the round, while in A1, Italy cruised to a 2-0 triumph over an Edin Dzeko-less Bosnia to advance. Belgium were made to work a little harder against Denmark on Wednesday, eventually prevailing 4-2 thanks to a Romelu Lukaku brace.

England were resigned to third place in A2 despite their dominant 4-0 victory over Iceland on matchday six.

Bosnia succumbed to the drop along with Sweden and they'll be joined by either Ukraine or Switzerland once UEFA decides the outcome of Tuesday's postponed fixture.

Relegated to League B: Bosnia & Herzegovina, Iceland, Sweden, Ukraine/Switzerland

2. League B

Promoted to League A: Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Wales

A pair of 1-1 draws in B1 saw Austria earn top spot and thus promotion to League A with Northern Ireland's demise to League C also confirmed after Romania were handed a 3-0 victory for their postponed clash with Norway.

Israel somewhat avenged last month's Euro 2020 play-off defeat to Scotland by beating them 1-0 in Netanya on Wednesday night. It was a costly loss for the Scots as the Czech Republic's 2-0 victory over Slovakia means they earned promotion from B2 at their expense.

Hungary and Wales both capped off impressive weeks in B3 and B4 with respective triumphs over Turkey and Finland on matchday six. Both advance into the top league for the 2022/23 campaign.

Serbia escaped relegation following a dreadful run of results by impressively beating Russia 5-0 in Belgrade as Turkey fell to a 2-0 defeat in Budapest.

In B4, Ireland maintained their status in the second tier with a characteristic stalemate with Bulgaria at the Aviva Stadium.

Relegated to League C: Northern Ireland, Slovakia, Turkey, Bulgaria

3. League C

Promoted to League B: Montenegro, Armenia, Slovenia, Albania

There were plenty of permutations in League C heading into the final matchday.

Montenegro's 4-0 beat down of Cyprus secured them promotion with the Cypriots relegated, Luxembourg and Azerbaijan played out a stalemate in the other game in C1.

Armenia advanced up a tier following their 1-0 over North Macedonia, with yet another stalemate ensuing in C2's other clash between the already relegated Estonia and third-placed Georgia.

Montenegro and Armenia will be joined by Slovenia and Albania in League B next time out after Greece could only muster a draw with Slovenia in Athens on Wednesday night, while Albania advanced following a decisive 3-1 win over Belarus, who held top spot heading into the final matchday.

Elsewhere in C3 and C4, Kosovo's 1-0 triumph over Moldova condemned the latter to the relegation play-offs, as did Lithuania's 2-1 victory over Kazakhstan.

Thus, two-legged playoffs between Moldova and Kazakhstan, and Estonia and Cyprus scheduled for March 2022 will determine the two nations that drop to the bottom tier.

Relegated to League D: Moldova/Kazakhstan, Estonia/Cyprus

4. League D

Promoted to League C: Faroe Islands, Gibraltar

It was a historic night for Gibraltar as their 1-1 draw with Liechtenstein was enough for them to earn promotion from D2.

The Faroe Island's point in Malta saw them advance a tier too.

Credit to San Marino also, who, despite finishing bottom of D2, secured goalless draws against Gibraltar and Liechtenstein to go two matches unbeaten for the first time in the nation's footballing history.
