Twitter reacts to Liverpool's FA Cup final win over Chelsea

Another cup final between Chelsea and Liverpool, another pulsating end-to-end match, another showpiece event decided on the lottery of penalties.

There's never a dull moment between these clubs, is there?

Even before kick-off, there were a couple of points of controversy - the managers weren't wearing traditional FA Cup final suits, and Chelsea were playing in their yellow away kit.

Liverpool began the match very brightly and threatened to blow Chelsea away early doors. After Trent Alexander-Arnold released Luis Diaz with a wonderful outside-of-the-boot through ball, the Colombian looked destined to score, but Edouard Mendy denied him and Naby Keita fired the rebound wide.

A rare chance for Chelsea saw Christian Pulisic drag Mason Mount's cross agonisingly wide.

The Blues (in yellow, of course) were beginning to find gaps in the Reds' defence with Marcos Alonso next to go close.

And then Liverpool suffered a mighty blow - Mohamed Salah had to be replaced after suffering an injury.

The two sides went into the break goalless, meaning that across their 165-plus minutes played in cup finals this season, neither Liverpool or Chelsea had scored a goal yet.

Alonso and Pulisic again went close after the break before the Spaniard rattled the bar from a free-kick.

With the scores still level, Klopp turned to James Milner to help turn the tide in Liverpool's favour.

Diaz and then Andy Robertson both struck the post as we headed into the final 10 minutes of normal time.

But neither side could find a goal in the allotted 90 minutes and we went to extra-time.

Was there a goal in those 30 minutes either? You bet your bottom dollar there wasn't. For the second time this season, a cup final between Chelsea and Liverpool went to penalties.

Blues captain Cesar Azpilicueta was the first to miss from the spot.

Jorginho, meanwhile, stepped up and converted but ditched his hop-and-skip technique.

But when Sadio Mane stepped up to clinch the cup, he was thwarted by Edouard Mendy.

Next up to miss was Mason Mount, who was denied by a strong hand from Alisson.

So the responsibility fell to Kostas Tsimikas to win Liverpool the FA Cup - and he did just that.
