Twitter reacts to England's World Cup stalemate with USA

The rivalry between England and the United States is a weird one. The hatred ranges from petty jibing to purely visceral. It made for a great backdrop prior to their World Cup group stage clash.
expecting some historically bad tweets tonight. Can't wait.

England vs. USA on Friday. The loser has to keep James Corden.

i want these bums annihilated. i want them to be so ashamed that they never go home again. i want these men driven to living in caves in the forests because they can't face humanity. https://t.co/7pfpkZW8Mj

Can't be a USA fan when we play another country, it's too easy to own us. You try to talk trash to a British guy and he says like "Oi go pay your deductible mate" it's over at that point

What do you think ?#eng #ENGUSA #WorldcupQatar2022
After a quiet start, Harry Maguire impressed a global audience with a swivelling dribble in the USA box.
only one way to beat them, get round the back (with Harry Maguire)

Was that Maguire or Messi? 😁#BBCFootball #BBCWorldCup

The USA had the better opening chances, with Christian Pulisic hitting the crossbar just after the half-hour mark.
I’m not enjoying this England game as much I did the last one.

Reality check alert.

England were poor for much of the first half and were a bit fortunate to get into the break level.
England 0 USA 0 at HT. England really poor for the most part until a couple if late threats. USA the better team and work for Gareth Southgate to do.

Is it because it’s on ITV?

That half was so bad the officials couldn’t bare to add the obligatory 9 minute extra time

Half time at the Al Bayt Stadium, and England are tied with the USA at 0-0… pic.twitter.com/ErJgVmPsQT

The start of the second half wasn't much brighter for England, with Mason Mount receiving plenty of criticism.
Every second more #19 stays on this pitch, the more I’m convinced Southgate wants out of this job as soon as possible
— 🐬 (@mellamodev) November 25, 2022
I just don’t think Mount is really anything special at all
— Luke (@TotalUnited) November 25, 2022
Every time the ball goes anywhere near Mason bloody Mount. pic.twitter.com/xHAiRx0Qqx

Three Lions fans were begging for substitutions. They got Jordan Henderson. Mount stayed on the pitch.
staggering that Southgate has watched 65mins of this and hasn’t looked to make a change

You see, my wife, she has been most vocal on the subject of Foden. "Where is Foden?" "When are you going to get Foden?" "Why aren't you getting Foden now?" And so on. pic.twitter.com/uXT0neJNQx

Henderson on to point and shout, England are winning
— kismo 🇺🇸 (@kxsmo) November 25, 2022
Henderson to Mount: The scene is a struggle, it's a race. Also, what you did was horizontal. Don't be afraid to explore the vertical. pic.twitter.com/eW7YoUhfLP

England fans wondering how Phil Foden is still on the bench 🤔 pic.twitter.com/h7w2M5C9oO

This game just needs some Emile Heksey stepovers to really complete that 2010 Algeria 0-0 vibe.
— Jack Pitt-Brooke (@JackPittBrooke) November 25, 2022
But ultimately, neither side could find a goal and the spoils were shared. England are helped more by the point, but the USA will be happier with the performance.
You mean to tell me the man who spent £18m on Afonso Alves isn't an attacking genius!?
— Ross Jackson (@RossJackson10) November 25, 2022
This is totally new information.
I've only felt more ashamed to be English about 163 more times
— Sean Walsh (@SeanDZWalsh) November 25, 2022
A draw was a fair result, the energy of Adams & Mckennie was excellent & Pulisic showed his class at times. Harry Maguire was superb for England. No Foden 🤷♂️ #WorldCup2022
