Bayern Munich secured their eighth league win in a row at the Allianz Arena, as they beat Fortuna Düsseldorf 5-0 on Saturday.

Bayern were looking to go a massive 10 points clear at the top of the table, with just five more games left to play. Fortuna Düsseldorf were battling for the three points at the complete opposite end of the table, sitting in the relegation play-off spot at the start of play.

While Düsseldorf started well, they inevitably fell behind inside the opening 15 minutes. It was an own goal from centre-back Zanka which gave Bayern the lead, when Benjamin Pavard's scuffed shot was bundled home by the unlucky Dane, giving first blood to the runaway leaders.

Pavard was clearly in the mood to score, and he got his just rewards not long after FCB's first goal. Joshua Kimmich's corner was well taken, and Pavard was there to head it goalbound with an outstanding header, putting the hosts into a commanding 2-0 lead in Bavaria.

Bayern added insult to injury just before half-time, with what was a quite stunning goal. Thomas Müller helped work the ball back to Robert Lewandowski who swept it home, making it three and marking an incredible feat - scoring against all 17 Bundesliga clubs in one season.

A 3-0 lead going into the break summed it up: Bayern were ruthless, Düsseldorf could not handle their attacking arsenal. Bayern were far from finished however, and neither was Lewandowski.

The Polish superstar added a second goal, this time a deft cheeky backheel from Serge Gnabry's short cross. The finish was delicate and the goal wonderful; if the three points weren't wrapped up, they were certainly in the bag now.

As if they hadn't already done enormous damage, Die Roten made it 5-0 a matter of minutes later. Alphonso Davies burst through a hopeless defence, staying composed in front of goal before practically passing it into the back of the net with a neat finish.

Both sides are back in action next Saturday, as they continue their pursuit of contrasting goals. Bayern go to Bayer Leverkusen looking to move towards another Meisterschaft, whereas Fortuna Düsseldorf host Hoffenhim in a bid to push away from the relegation zone.
