Twitter Reacts as Borussia Dortmund See Out Vital Victory Over Plucky Wolfsburg in Title Race

Borussia Dortmund sealed another important win at the Volkswagen Arena, as they beat Wolfsburg 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Wolfsburg were looking to make it eight games unbeaten in another huge game, while also moving clear ahead of the pack in sixth. Meanwhile, Dortmund hoped to close the gap at the top once again to one point, ahead of next week's crucial clash between first placed Bayern Munich and BVB just behind.
Dortmund named the same XI that brushed Schalke aside in the Revierderby, meaning that Jadon Sancho was benched once again. The Englishman couldn't find his way back into the lineup, as Julian Brandt and Thorgan Hazard deservedly retained their places for the trip to Wolfsburg.

Not risking Jadon Sancho could be a good decision for Dortmund, especially ahead of Tuesday's massive Klassiker with Bayern Munich. #WOBBVB

Just as in the Schalke victory last week, Dortmund struck first soon after the half hour mark. Thorgan Hazard found some space out wide, and while Erling Haaland surprisingly swung and missed at the Belgian's ball, Raphaël Guerreiro was there to pass it into the net and put BVB ahead.

Dortmund went into the break with a healthy lead, though the match was far from settled. Wolfsburg looked certain to level it up after the break, but Renato Steffen couldn't finish it off as his shot flew over the bar.
What a miss from Renato Steffen! Wolfsburg should be level. Wout Weghorst certainly starting to cause a problem. #WOBBVB

Wow, Steffen should really have scored there. One on one, and he's grazed it off and over the bar.

Steffen with a terrible miss.

Should be 1-1 #WOBBVB
With the clock ticking and the scoreline still tight, the Schwarzgelben sealed the win through Achraf Hakimi's finish. Substitute Sancho played a deft pass over to the Moroccan, who swept it home to wrap up the win for Lucien Favre's dominant Dortmund.

2-0!!! Dortmund finish off a counter. Sancho with his 16th assist for Achraf Hakimi. #WOBBVB

Just shows @realmadriden short termism that they let Hakimi go so they could persevere with Carvajal. Hakimi is different class. #WOBBVB
