The worst-kept secret of the past 24 hours is finally out as Antonio Conte has been formally unveiled as the new manager of Tottenham Hotspur.

From the moment Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked on Monday morning, the focus has been directly on Conte and talks between the two went off without a hitch, bringing the former Inter boss to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on an 18-month contract.

It became clear this deal was happening late on Monday, and Spurs did their best to spoil the fun by accidentally leaking their confirmation tweet an hour before schedule.

It's all out in the open now. Conte is Tottenham's new manager and his job is now to get Spurs back to the top four.

The deal's a pretty big one, and Twitter went wild over it.

A serial winner, Conte joins having led Inter to Serie A glory last season and brings a CV which includes countless Italian titles with Juventus and even a Premier League trophy with London rivals Chelsea.

He's often been criticised for his abrasive style of management, but with Spurs tumbling down the league table in recent months, maybe that's exactly what they need?

Spurs fans were celebrating, but there was a loud voice coming from Old Trafford, where a big number of Manchester United supporters were happy to admit their jealousy.

Conte had been tipped to join United and replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer instead, but the Norwegian masterminded the 3-0 win over Spurs which ultimately cost Nuno his job.

Solskjaer beat Spurs so bad that the main threat to his job went and joined them instead? Smart.

United's loss is Spurs' gain.

Conte doesn't usually settle for anything less than perfection and silverware from his clubs, and if he brings that mentality to Spurs, there could be a new threat to the Premier League title very soon.
