International tournament football is fantastic for so many reasons, and one of those is the sheer ridiculousness of it all.

Euro 2020 kicked off with an excellent rendition of Nessun Dorma from Andrea Bocelli, and then we got powerful renditions of both the Italian and the Turkish national anthems. It was genuinely moving.

It was quite a spectacle to kick off tournament proceedings in Rome, a fitting way to begin a tournament which was delayed by a year because of the pandemic.

And then came the little car.

Yep, for some reason, the match ball carrier was stripped of his job here and replaced by a little branded car, which was given the honour of driving the ball on to the pitch.

Why?

Why?

Fans fell in love with the sheer stupidity of the whole thing. Little Car quickly blossomed into a cult icon, with supporters from across the country losing their minds for the Lorenzo Insigne-sized ball carrier.

Fan clubs were forming. Tributes were pouring in. The Little Car even got its own Panini sticker.

Is this going to be a permanent thing? Can we bring this to the Premier League?

Little Car is love. Little Car is life.
