Tottenham continue their dreary trudge towards the end of the season by hosting Brentford on Saturday.

Spurs were well beaten by Aston Villa 2-1 as their top four hopes were firmly crushed last time out, the goal now being to qualify for the Europa League rather than the Europa Conference League.

Here's the side interim boss Ryan Mason could pick to make that hope more of a reality.

GK: Fraser Forster - Still between the sticks in Hugo Lloris' absence and will likely have a new number one to observe next season, with his contract due to expire in 2024.

CB: Emerson Royal - Now occupying the right centre back spot with Romero moving to the middle.

CB: Cristian Romero - Had a poor game at Villa, making costly mistakes for both goals in the 2-1 defeat.

CB: Clement Lenglet - Still uncertain where he will be playing his football next season. Barça have moved on and Spurs need better quality in defence.

RWB: Pedro Porro - Has definitely made Spurs more threatening out wide since his January arrival but also gets caught out regularly at the back.

CM: Yves Bissouma - Made a large impression during his return from injury against Villa. His skill in possession and ball-winning ability could be key against a tireless Bees midfield.

CM: Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg - Putting in a string of performances, especially at Villa, that show Tottenham need greater industry and technical quality in the middle of the park.

LWB: Ben Davies - One of the few players to come out of this season untainted, though that's not saying too much.

RF: Dejan Kulusevski - Richarlison looked lost and confused for much of last week's clash, so the guile and inventiveness of Kulusevski could be picked instead.

ST: Harry Kane - Has already registered his third-best Premier League season with 27 goals. Two more will equal his 2016/17 campaign while four in the last two games would make it a career best.

LF: Son Heung-min - Was offside four times at Villa as Spurs struggled to legally beat the home side's well organised high line.
