Tottenham Hotspur right-back Djed Spence has signed for Leeds United on a season-long loan.

The England youth international has been used sparingly by Spurs ever since his 2022 move from Middlesbrough. Upon his arrival, he was infamously labelled as a 'club signing' by then-head coach Antonio Conte.

Spence played just 41 minutes for Tottenham before joining Rennes on loan for the remainder of the season during the January transfer window.

He returned to north London this summer but failed to make an immediate impression under new head coach Ange Postecoglou and has now joined Leeds on loan for the 2023/24 campaign.

Spence becomes the second Spurs player to sign for Leeds on loan this summer, following in the footsteps of Joe Rodon, who coincidentally also joined Rennes during the second half of last season.

The right-back returns to the Championship having earned promotion while on loan at Nottingham Forest during the 2021/22 season, earning a spot in the PFA Team of the Year.

Spence becomes Leeds' sixth signing of the summer as new manager Daniel Farke continues trying to rebuild his squad and secure promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Leeds currently sit 13th in the Championship table after four games, chalking up their first win of the new season at the weekend with an impressive 4-3 victory at Ipswich Town.
