The start of Ange Postecoglou's reign in north London was going so swimmingly before an injury crisis threatened to derail Tottenham Hotspur's entire campaign.

Top of the league after ten matches, Postecoglou's side then endured a five-game winless run in the winter which saw them slide down the table. However, their response following that blip, despite the continued absence of key stars, was impressive.

After grinding out wins to end 2023, Tottenham have gotten healthier in the new year which has allowed them to mitigate the absences of Son Heung-min, Yves Bissouma, and Pape Matar Sarr due to their respective international commitments. However, as we approach the final month of the season, securing Champions League football for 2024/25 looks a tough ask given their tough schedule.

Here are the latest updates regarding those that are still out for Tottenham.

Pedro Porro

  • Issue: Hamstring injury
  • Potential Return: vs Arsenal (H) - 28/04/24

Pedro Porro was one of a number of Tottenham players who had a nightmare during their 4-0 thrashing at Newcastle. The Spaniard set up the Magpies' second goal with an errant back pass and went off minutes before the hosts went 3-0 up at the start of the second half with a suspected hamstring problem.

Speaking after the loss, Postecoglou said: "He just felt something in the first-half and wanted to see how it goes in the second-half.

"I haven't checked with the medical team yet but we'll see what the issue is."

Spurs insiders have suggested the club is hopeful Porro will be fit for the North London Derby this weekend.

Richarlison

  • Issue: Knee injury
  • Potential Return: vs Arsenal (H) - 28/04/24

Brazilian forward Richarlison has had to deal with a few niggles after his red-hot streak came to an end, with his latest setback ruling him out of Spurs' 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest.

However, the boss didn't appear at all concerned by Richarlison's minor knee issue. He was once again missing in the defeat to Newcastle, but he should return to full fitness by the end of the month in the north London derby.

Destiny Udogie

  • Issue: Thigh injury
  • Potential Return: Summer 2024

Tottenham weren't in action during FA Cup semi-final week, yet the Lilywhites were dealt a bitter injury blow with just a month of the season remaining.

Out of the blue, it was revealed that Udogie had undergone surgery to fix a thigh injury he sustained in training. He's not only expected to miss the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign, but he's also been ruled out of Euro 2024 where he was expected to compete with Federico Dimarco for a starting berth down Italy's left.

“An injury brings my season to an early end. It doesn’t take away from how grateful I am to every person that has supported me this year," the impressive young full-back posted in the wake of the news.

Ryan Sessegnon

  • Issue: Hamstring injury
  • Potential Return: Summer 2024

Ryan Sessegnon's comeback was short-lived.

After making his first appearance of the season in the FA Cup third-round victory over Burnley in early January, Sessegnon returned to the sidelines with another hamstring problem.

The 23-year-old once again underwent surgery, so it's unlikely that he'll play again for Tottenham this season.

"I've been down this road before. I'll pick myself up, stay headstrong and begin my recovery in the best way possible," Sessegnon wrote on Instagram after his surgery was confirmed.

Manor Solomon

  • Issue: Knee injury
  • Potential Return: Unknown

Manor Solomon had shown promise at the start of his Tottenham career, but he was dealt a significant blow at the start of October when he picked up a knee injury in training which required surgery.

The club confirmed the winger had suffered a meniscus injury to his right knee and he hasn't featured for the north London outfit since.

Already a forgotten man in north London, it's looking increasingly unlikely that Solomon will feature again this season after he underwent more minor surgery following a setback in his recovery.

Fraser Forster

  • Issue: Foot injury
  • Potential Return: Summer 2024

Former Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster has been missing from Tottenham's matchday squads since February after suffering a foot fracture.

Speaking in mid-February, Postecoglou stated: "The big one is Fraser Forster. He picked up a knock in training - a fracture in his foot - he's longer-term, a couple of months. Yeah, disappointing."

While the goalkeeper was expected to be back sometime in April, Postecoglou recently said that Forster is now unlikely to feature again this season - not that he was going to usurp Guglielmo Vicario anyway.
