Just when Tottenham fans think they've seen everything, Spurs find a new way to reinvent the wheel.

The chaotic north London outfit were all over the place in their 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday, embarrassingly failing to take advantage of Newcastle's slip-up at Aston Villa earlier in the day.

Son Heung-min's strike was cancelled out by Matias Vina before half time. Dominic Solanke's effort had Bournemouth ahead for most of the second half until Arnaut Danjuma's equaliser, but Dango Ouattara's cool finish sent the Cherries back to the south coast with all three points.

There are a fair few Premier League clubs out there who'd rather the season end now, Spurs being one of them, but there remain games to be played before the season is out.

Newcastle vs Tottenham - Premier League

Tottenham have played more games than many of the teams around them but really, it is this one and the two that follow that will really decide their fate. Newcastle lost to Villa on Saturday and both sides need to be wary of the Villans, who have hit an incredible run of form.

If Spurs lose this, they can certainly waive goodbye to catching the Magpies. Fourth would look like the highest possible finish if Manchester United can be reeled in, but it would take a pretty special display to get all three points from what will be a raucous St James' Park.

That line about Spurs waiving goodbye to third if they lose to Newcastle? Apply here for fourth place. Given there are some serious injury concerns for Erik ten Hag and Manchester United building up, they seem more beatable than Newcastle right now.

There is also the fact that they are still juggling three tournaments while Spurs and Newcastle are fully focused on the Premier League. This will be a really tough game and a huge occasion and while United will likely be the favourites, it will not be by a big margin.

Liverpool vs Tottenham - Premier League

To complete Tottenham's crucial run of fixtures against teams in the same area of the table as them, they will go away to Anfield and take on a Liverpool side that are very hard to predict. They have certainly improved compared to a few months ago, but issues remain.

If results don't go Spurs' way against Newcastle and Man Utd, they could be at serious risk of getting dragged down into a position where no European football is secured. That may be an extreme scenario but it is very possible and losing to Liverpool would make it a lot less unrealistic.

Crystal Palace vs Tottenham - Premier League

After three incredibly tough games, Tottenham might be hoping that by the time this game comes around, Palace have pulled clear of the relegation fight under Roy Hodgson and begun coasting to the end of the season.

They are well placed to do just that and it really could work in Tottenham's favour. Any good results in the three previously mentioned games will mean little if they cannot get all three points at Selhurst Park against a Palace side that seriously underwhelmed before Hodgson's return.

As soon as Spurs have enjoyed a game against a team that are not also fighting for European qualification, they then face another one.

Aston Villa have shot up the Premier League table and are now serious contenders under Unai Emery, with only three points separating them from Spurs after their win over Newcastle.

It will be a really tough game at Villa Park for Spurs against a confident side and they do not want to go there off the back of a series of defeats against other teams around them in the table.

Tottenham vs Brentford - Premier League

Rinse and repeat. With so many teams in the same battle for Europe, it is inevitable that there will be a lot of direct clashes between them and Spurs appear to be the team at the centre of that. Tottenham have just two games against teams in the bottom half of the table remaining.

It really is a period of time where the best players need to stand up and be counted. The likes of Kane, Son, Dejan Kulusevski, Ivan Perisic and Richarlison have to be clinical and creative against some really good defences and this Brentford game will be another really tough test.
