Tottenham Hotspur are 'extremely confident' they will keep hold of head coach Ange Postecoglou despite suggestions he is a contender for the Liverpool job, a new report has claimed.

Premier League leaders Liverpool are on the hunt for a new manager with Jurgen Klopp leaving the club at the end of the season. Bayer Leverkusen's Xabi Alonso is widely reported to be their top candidate, but others have been tipped for the role too.

Brighton & Hove Albion's Roberto De Zerbi and Sporting CP's Ruben Amorim have been linked with Liverpool, as has Spurs boss Postecoglou, who has admitted he grew up as a fan of the Reds.

However, the Telegraph report Tottenham 'hold no fears' over Postecoglou's future and do not believe he will leave them for a rival club.

Postecoglou joined Tottenham on a four-year contract from Celtic last summer, penning a long-term deal despite previously taking on shorter-term ones at previous clubs, and has changed the entire ethos and culture of the club after rocky spells under the management of Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho.

The Telegraph's report adds Postecoglou's contract, like many at Spurs, is incentivised with bonuses and pay rises for meeting specific targets. Though not currently confirmed, it's expected he would be rewarded for guiding Tottenham back into the Champions League - they moved up to fourth place in the Premier League with a last-minute win against Brighton on Saturday.

Postecoglou has also hinted at staying at Tottenham for an extended period after moving his family around all over the globe in recent years due to taking on different jobs.

In addition to Liverpool, the Telegraph add Postecoglou is on Manchester City's shortlist of contenders to replace Pep Guardiola, but he is not expected to leave the Etihad Stadium until 2025 at the earliest. Postecoglou spent three years in charge of Japanese side Yokohama F. Marinos, who are part of the City Football Group.
