Tottenham are growing in confidence a deal for Pedro Porro will be finalised in the coming days, 90min understands.

Spurs have been attempting to thrash out a deal with Sporting CP for the wing back but have repeatedly been referred to his €45m release clause by the Portuguese club. The north London club want to pay that fee in instalments, which has led to prolonged negotiations.

However, while Tottenham are unhappy with the battle Sporting have put up for the Spaniard, there is an expectation the deal will be concluded before the weekend.

Spurs and Sporting have been locked in talks for weeks over Porro. Figures in Sporting's hierarchy had been keen to accept an offer of €37m plus a reserve Tottenham player. Spurs have now accepted they will pay the release clause fee and have already agreed a long-term contract with Porro.

Should he arrive at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Porro is expected to quickly become Antonio Conte's first choice right wing-back. Emerson Royal has featured mainly in that role alongside Matt Doherty, while summer signing Djed Spence has not been utilised and is expected to depart on loan.

Spurs have already secured the loan signing of Dutch attacker Arnaut Danjuma, who has scored 22 goals in 51 appearances for parent club Villarreal.
