Tottenham's search to sign a new right wing-back is continuing, with the club asking Sporting CP about the availability of Pedro Porro, 90min understands.

Despite signing Djed Spence in the summer and with Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal still on the books, 90min has long reported that Antonio Conte would like another experienced player in that position.

Emerson has continued to struggle this season and his substitution in Spurs' 4-3 win over Leeds prior to the World Cup break was met with loud cheers by home fans at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

90min reported earlier this month that Netherlands star Denzel Dumfries is an option for Tottenham, while Sporting's Porro is also now under consideration.

The 23-year-old starred as Sporting took four points off of Spurs in this season's Champions League, though ultimately finished third in the group.

Porro spent the last two seasons on loan with the Lisbon side before making a switch from Manchester City permanent in the summer.

While his current release clause stands at nearly £40m, reports in Portugal have previously claimed that City would be able to swoop in and buy him back for £17m.

90min understands that Spurs do not believe Porro is necessarily worth £40m. If they are to pursue a deal, a summer move looks more likely than one in January despite this recent contact.

In addition to Porro and Dumfries, Tottenham retain a long-term interest in Adama Traore, who came close to joining in the previous January window before returning to Barcelona on loan instead.

While not naturally a wing-back, Traore is seen as someone who could potentially fit the bill required in a Conte system. His Wolves contract expires in the summer.
