Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of Romanian defender Radu Dragusin from Serie A side Genoa, with Djed Spence heading in the opposite direction on loan until summer.

Dragusin has signed a long-term contract until 2030 and will wear the number six shirt previously occupied by Davinson Sanchez, who left for Galatasaray in September.

The 21-year-old centre-back was scouted by Juventus at the age of 16 and eventually four times for the first-team in Turin. He had played on loan in Serie with Sampdoria and Salernitana, before a breakout season at Genoa in Serie B in 2022/23, during which he joined them permanently.

Tottenham are believed to have agreed a deal worth up to £26m, including add-ons. It marks a quick and substantial profit for Genoa, having paid Juve only €5.5m (£.47m) plus add-ons.

Dragusin is Spurs’ second signing of the January transfer window after bringing former Chelsea forward Timo Werner back to English football on loan from RB Leipzig.
