Toronto FC has announced that forward Lorenzo Insigne will miss the next 3-4 games with a groin injury.

Initially expected back sooner rather than later, Toronto told reporters the Italy international won’t be back until April at best.

Starting the season with just two points, Insigne’s injury will be a massive blow to a Toronto side looking to make the playoffs after missing them in the previous two seasons.

Based on the prediction that Insigne could be back in April, the 31-year-old will miss Toronto’s following matches against the San Jose Earthquakes (March 25th), Charlotte FC (April 1st), and possibly Nashville SC.

Though Bob Bradley normally lines his teams up in the 4-3-3 formation, which needs technically gifted and creative wingers to thrive, without Insigne, and other injuries to forwards Ayo Akinola and Adama Diomonde, the club will look to fill that void with fellow Italian Federico Bernadeschi, Canada international Jonathan Osorio and DeAndre Kerr.
