Thomas Tuchel deserves the chance to build his Chelsea empire

Chelsea have done a lot of questionable business over the past few years, but extending Thomas Tuchel's contract was one of the easiest decisions the Blues will ever have to make.

The German led Chelsea to Champions League glory within his first five months at Stamford Bridge, and now he has inked an extension to try and keep the good times rolling between now and 2024.

There's no question over whether Tuchel deserves it. His tactical prowess has taken the entire planet by storm and he has helped players reach new heights in such a short time together. If this is what he can do in five months, just imagine what he could do with three more years.

Tuchel is already thinking ahead to that, insisting he plans to build a dynasty at the Bridge on the back of this spectacular triumph, so fans can celebrate his new deal for now, but for those inside the club, the focus is already on the future.

The boss has already confessed he wants 'two or three' new signings - a striker, central midfielder, centre-back and right winger are all on the shopping list - and owner Roman Abramovich should not hesitate to dig deep into his pockets to back Tuchel.

If he feels Chelsea need a pure goalscorer, go find one. If a midfield enforcer is what's missing (did someone say Declan Rice?), go flash the cash. Tuchel has developed an unbelievable understanding of this squad already and he will have a clear idea of what is needed to win the Premier League title again. His wishes must not go unfulfilled.

While the idea of new signings is exciting, one of the most mouth-watering thoughts is what Tuchel can do with the young players that are already starting to look like some of his most reliable players.

Tuchel turned Mason Mount, Reece James, Andreas Christensen and Ben Chilwell into some of the best players in the Premier League in his first half-season, but to build the empire he is looking for, the boss will demand more from those youngsters, and all the signs suggest he knows exactly how to draw that improvement out of them.

Another intriguing prospect is what the future holds for Callum Hudson-Odoi. The young winger saw his light fade quickly under Tuchel - he started the first three league games and three of the remaining 16 - but the German's interest in Hudson-Odoi has been clear to see.

After May's 2-1 win over Manchester City, we saw Tuchel passionately coaching Hudson-Odoi on the pitch. It's clear that he believes the sky is the limit for the young winger, who he is constantly challenging to push himself to the next level.

With Hudson-Odoi set for a full summer of rest because of England Under-21s' embarrassing exit from the Euros, he now has more time to work with Tuchel than any other player in the squad, and some one-to-one sessions with the boss could be perfect. If you want a dynasty, you need young players like Hudson-Odoi to step up.

Factor in the return of loan players like Marc Guehi, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Armando Broja and Malang Sarr, and Tuchel will have some fascinating chances to improve his squad for free. There'll be returning faces capable of playing in those problem areas for Tuchel, and fans would love to see some of them given a chance.

The past five months have taught us two things: N'Golo Kante is going to win the Ballon d'Or, and there is no better man to be in charge of Chelsea's empire-building than Tuchel.

Tuchel knows this is going to be a special summer, and fans are already fascinated by the possibilities.
