Thomas Muller is set to miss Germany's final group game against Hungary on Wednesday night with a knee injury, while three more German stars sat out of training on Monday with fitness issues.

Muller picked up a knock during Germany's 4-2 victory over Portugal and will not be fit enough to face Hungary for the crunch tie which will decide Die Mannschaft's Euro 2020 fate, according to Bild.

After losing 1-0 to France in their Euro 2020 Group F opener, Joachim Low's side were heavily criticised, while Muller was among those singled out for a below-par performance.

However, the Bayern Munich star bounced back brilliantly with a much-improved display during Saturday's win over Portugal which saw Germany leapfrog the holders of the competition into second place in the group heading into their final fixture.

Muller is one of four players who will miss Monday's session as confirmed by the national team's official Twitter account. However, Muller is the only one who Bild speculate will not be involved in Wednesday's fixture.

Mats Hummels (knee), Ilkay Gundogan (calf) and Lukas Klostermann (muscle) are also struggling with fitness issues and so Low will be without several members of his squad as they make preparations for their final group game.

Hungary earned a draw with the tournament favourites and world champions France shortly before the Germans blew away Fernando Santos' Portugal at the weekend, and will likely prove stubborn opponents when the two sides meet at Munich's Allianz Arena on Wednesday night.

A win would see Germany progress to the last 16 regardless of other results. However, a win for France would see them top the group.

Germany could yet progress even with defeat, but would need to rely on other results.

Bild's report claims Muller's knee issue is serious enough for him to be considered 'questionable' for the round of 16.
