Indian Super League (ISL) side, ATK Mohun Bagan's new signing, Brendan Hamill does not see any reason why the Mariners cannot do well in the AFC Cup, claiming that they can create history in the competition if they work together as a unit.
Hamill recently signed a two-year deal with ATK Mohun Bagan, who have qualified for the inter-zone playoff semi-finals after strong performances in the preliminary rounds and the group stage.
The Mariners have significantly strengthened their squad this summer, bringing in the likes of Florentin Pogba, Ashique Kuruniyan and Asish Rai along with Hamill.
“I think we need to get to work. The key to any success is working hard, and working smart. I know what it takes to do it being privileged enough to win the Champions League, so I know what the blueprint is," he said in an interview.
"But at the end of the day, it's 11 against 11 for 90 minutes. But if we work hard, work smart and work together, there's no reason why we can't have a real crack at the AFC Cup," the defender added.
The 29-year-old who has played for various Australian youth sides so far in his career, has played for the likes of Western Sydney Wanderers and Melbourne Victory in his career and will no doubt add further strength to an already packed ATK Mohun Bagan backline.
