The winner of the PFA Vertu Motors WSL Fans' Player of the Month

Manchester City midfielder Laura Coombs has won the PFA Vertu Motors WSL Fans' Player of the Month award for December.

The 31-year-old enjoyed a fine month before the winter break, helping her side to four points from two games.

Coombs kicked off December with the third goal in City's comprehensive 3-1 win at home to Brighton. She then scored a crucial equaliser in a 1-1 draw with title rivals Manchester United in the Manchester derby at a packed Etihad Stadium.

Taking home a whopping 42% of the public vote, Coombs was the runaway winner for December's award, easily fighting off competition from United duo Leah Galton (19%) in second place and Ona Batlle (13%) in third.

Chelsea midfielder Fran Kirby brought in 12% of the vote having contributed three goals and one assist in the WSL in December. Arsenal's Vivianne Miedema came fifth with 9% of votes, and Chelsea's Guro Reiten finished sixth with 5%.
