Versatile Sheffield Wednesday star Marvin Johnson has won the PFA Vertu Motors League One Fans' Player of the Month award for December.

Wednesday went unbeaten through the month as their promotion charge continued, and Johnson played a starring role at Hillsborough.

Johnson helped the Owls keep a clean sheet at promotion rivals Derby County in a 0-0 draw to open December, while they also held Oxford United to the same scoreline a fortnight later.

The 32-year-old came to life with an outstanding showing at Fleetwood Town on Boxing Day, registering one goal and one assist in a 2-1 win.

He rounded off the month with another clean sheet as Wednesday beat Port Vale 2-0 at home.

Johnson's exploits saw him take home the award with 24% of the public vote, edging out second-placed Josh Coburn of Bristol Rovers with 20%.

Burton Albion striker Victor Adeboyejo came just behind in third with 17% of the vote, shortly followed by Ipswich Town forward Conor Chaplin with 15%.

Barnsley's James Norwood and Plymouth Argyle's Dan Scarr tied for fifth place with 12%.
