Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz has been named the PFA Vertu Motors Championship Fans' Player of the Month for October.

The Chile international scored four goals in a packed autumn schedule as he continued carrying his form from last season into the current one, with Jon Dahl Tomasson's side strengthening their early promotion credentials.

Brereton Diaz began October by grabbing the winner in a 2-1 victory at home to Millwall, before he secured a brace in Blackburn's 3-0 triumph against Rotherham United.

The 23-year-old rounded off his scoring for the month with the opener against Sunderland in a 2-0 win at Ewood Park.

Rovers also beat Middlesbrough, Birmingham City and Hull City as they took 18 points from a possible 24 in a fine October.

Brereton Diaz took home 32% of the vote to comfortably take home October's award, with his closest challenger - Watford forward Ismaila Sarr - grabbing 22%.

Burnley's Ian Maatsen finished third with 15% as the Clarets boosted their own promotion hopes, while Blackpool's Jerry Yates came fourth with 13%.

Queens Park Rangers striker Lyndon Dykes took 11% of the vote to rank fifth, and Millwall's Zian Flemming rounded off the top six with 7%.
