The West Ham lineup that should start against Everton

With no wins in their last four games, West Ham will bring in the new year with an away trip to high-flying Everton.

The Hammers slumped to a 0-0 draw with Southampton in their final fixture of 2020, with a lack of creativity in attack looking prevalent once again being their undoing. Still, though, David Moyes' side are by no means in the worst position possible and could go level on points with as many as five teams in front of them with a win this weekend.

Here's how they could line up on New Year's Day.

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Lukasz Fabianski (GK) - West Ham's number one continues to operate at a high level and will no doubt start this one.

Vladimir Coufal (RB) - Coufal has quickly established himself as a key player in West Ham's starting XI in recent weeks. A solid defensive performer, he's also chipped in with two assists in the Premier League so far.

Craig Dawson (CB) - Despite virtually punting Che Adams' head off his body, Dawson was solid against Southampton and deserves to start again. Just focus on the ball this time, though. Please.

Angelo Ogbonna (CB) - The Italian has seriously stepped up this season for the Irons and deserves credit for his consistently dominant displays at the back.

Aaron Cresswell (LB) - Similarly, Cresswell has looked back to his best this season for the Irons. Left back or left of a back three, he does a job.

2. Midfielders

Declan Rice (DM) - West Ham must do all they possibly can to keep hold of Declan Rice a little bit longer. Now adding technical ability to his game, Rice is key to his side's fortunes this season.

Tomas Soucek (DM) - Soucek will sit alongside Rice against the Toffees. The midfielder is a tireless runner from box-to-box and has a knack for scoring a goal when needed.

Jarrod Bowen (RM) - He struggled to make an impact in a strike partnership alongside Sebastien Haller against Brighton, but provides a solid threat from wide positions. Bowen could cause problems for Everton.

Manuel Lanzini (AM) - For some reason, David Moyes isn't in a rush to bed Said Benrahma into his starting XI. For now, Lanzini will probably start.

Pablo Fornals (LM) - Fornals adds a similar flair to Lanzini down the left for the Hammers and has chipped in with two goals and two assists in the league thus far.

3. Forward

Sebastien Haller (ST) - Michail Antonio made a late return against Southampton and while he probably would add a boost to West Ham's attack, Moyes has been cautious regarding his recovery from injury.
