The West Ham Lineup That Should Start Against Everton

West Ham travel to Everton with a place in the Carabao Cup fifth round at stake on Wednesday night.

The Hammers recorded a surprise 4-0 win over Wolves on Sunday to settle some of their early season nerves, relieving a small chunk of the tension that has been building at the London Stadium over the past couple of weeks.

A good cup run would undoubtedly endear David Moyes a little more to West Ham's supporters, but they face a tricky task in overcoming Carlo Ancelotti's in-form Toffees. Here's how they should lineup for the game.

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Darren Randolph (GK) - Gone are the days of West Ham being plagued by an inadequate deputy goalkeeper. Republic of Ireland international Darren Randolph is a capable replacement for Lukasz Fabianski, and he'll retain his place between the sticks after featuring against Hull City and Charlton in the previous rounds.

Ben Johnson (RB) - First-choice right-back Ryan Fredericks suffered a suspected pulled hamstring against Wolves and had to be replaced by 20-year-old Ben Johnson. The Hammers' academy graduate will be his replacement from the start in midweek.

Angelo Ogbonna (CB) - Issa Diop is still in self-isolation after testing positive for COVID-19 so Angelo Ogbonna will be pivotal for West Ham in the heart of defence.

Fabian Balbuena (CB) - The Paraguay international has played in the previous two rounds and will be looking to impress against Premier League opposition.

Arthur Masuaku (LB) - Aaron Cresswell is Moyes' preferred choice at left-back, but Masuaku offers something different going forward and the 26-year-old is likely to feature due to the congested fixture schedule.

2. Midfielders

Declan Rice (DM) - The Englishman has been linked with a big-money move to Chelsea over the summer, but he's likely to remain in Moyes' starting line-up as his importance to this West Ham continues to grow.

Mark Noble (CM) - West Ham's long-serving captain came off the bench on Sunday after recovering from a foot injury. A start here is the next step in his bid to regain full fitness.

Manuel Lanzini (CM) - The diminutive Argentine has been plagued with injuries during his time in England, but when he's on form he's capable of causing any side problems. Needs a big performance to reignite his career.

3. Forwards

Andriy Yarmolenko (RW) - The Ukraine international winger is one of the most talented members of Moyes' squad, but staying injury free is his issue.

Sebastien Haller (ST) - Last summer's £45m purchase is the leading scorer so far in this year's Carabao Cup with four strikes in just two games. Haller wants a bigger role, but scoring goals here is important for his cause.

Felipe Anderson (LW) - After an impressive debut campaign during 2018/19, Anderson was outright awful last season. The Brazilian could be leaving if a bid comes in, but still has quality to offer.
