The Tottenham Lineup That Should Start Against Chelsea

Tottenham suffered the disappointment of a controversial last-minute draw at the weekend after putting in a dominant display for much of the match.

Newcastle summer signing Callum Wilson rescued a point for Steve Bruce's side from the spot after an extremely contentious handball decision went against Eric Dier. Jose Mourinho's men will be hoping they can bounce back against London rivals Chelsea in mid-week, when they host them in the Carabao Cup fourth round.

With a hectic schedule, Spurs will be forced into rotating their squad, which is already suffering somewhat from injuries. That could open the door for summer singing Sergio Reguilon to make his much-anticipated debut and give the likes of Ryan Sessegnon and Tanguy Ndombele another chance to impress.

Goalkeeper & Defender

Joe Hart (GK) - The former England number one is second choice behind club captain Hugo Lloris, but after starting in the Europa League, it appears he'll get his chances in the cup competitions.

Serge Aurier (RB) - The summer singing of Matt Doherty cast some doubt over Aurier's future in north London, but this could be the perfect opportunity to prove his worth to Mourinho if the Ivory Coast international wants to stay and fight for his place.

Toby Alderweireld (CB) - Alderweireld was on the bench against Newcastle on Sunday and is expected to come back into the starting lineup for this Carabao Cup clash.

Eric Dier (CB) - With Jan Vertonghen yet to be replaced by Spurs and Japhet Tanganga still out injured, Mourinho will likely be left with a choice between Dier and Sanchez at the heart of defence.

Sergio Reguilon (LB) - The new signing from Real Madrid was on the bench against Newcastle and could be set to make his debut in the upcoming London derby. Spurs fans will be excited to see their new left-back in action after joining for £28m.

Midfielders

Tanguy Ndombele (DM) - Tottenham's record signing has impressed when he's played so far this season, but places in Mourinho's good books are all written in pencil. The 23-year-old will be hoping to seize his chance once again and cement his spot in Spurs' starting lineup.

Dele Alli (CM) - Mourinho has left Alli out of his last two Premier League matchday squads, but he did start against Shkendija in the last round of the Europa League. The England international has been linked with a move away, but with the fixtures coming thick and fast, he could make the starting XI on Tuesday.

Gedson Fernandes (CM) - The Portuguese youngster has yet to make an appearance in the current campaign, but with Moussa Sissoko potentially sidelined through illness, he may be in line to feature against Chelsea.

Forwards

Steven Bergwijn (RW) - Bergwijn appears to be favoured in the cup competitions of late, with both of his starts in the current campaign coming in the Europa League. After Son Heung-min picked up a hamstring problem at the weekend, that pattern is sure to continue.

Ryan Sessegnon (LW) - The 20-year-old is another Spurs player who has yet to feature this season. The highly-rated youngster could benefit from the hectic schedule and be given a chance to impress in the Carabao Cup.

Lucas Moura (ST) - Harry Kane is likely to be rested and with the absence of a ready-made replacement in the squad, it could fall to Moura to lead the line.
