A few months ago we were all talking about Real Madrid's underwhelming campaign and rumours regarding Zinedine Zidane's future at the club were beginning to circulate.

Now they're looking like potential double winners having secured a place in the Champions League semi-final and after their win in El Clasico put them right in the mix for the La Liga title - shows how much we know.

Real head to Getafe this Sunday looking to strengthen their bid to retain their Spanish crown, though Zidane is facing a number of selection headaches.

With Casemiro and Nacho suspended and a whole host of injuries to key players including Sergio Ramos, Lucas Vazquez and Eden Hazard to contend with, we take a look at the starting XI that could start their crucial clash with Getafe.

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Thibaut Courtois (GK) - Only league leaders Atletico have conceded fewer than Real in the league this season and this man is one of the main factors behind their solid stats.

Alvaro Odriozola (RB) -
Has been kept out of the side by Lucas Vazquez for much of the season but likely to be drafted back in with his countryman ruled out through injury.

Eder Militao (CB) -
Did really well in the week against Liverpool and has stepped up when his team needed him in the absence of Ramos and Raphael Varane.

Víctor Chust (CB) -
With Varane recovering from coronavirus the Frenchman is said to be a doubt, so Víctor Chust could be handed just his second ever La Liga appearance.

Ferland Mendy (LB) -
Zidane has been forced to experiment with Real's backline this season but this man has been an almost ever-present. The France international is starting to look every bit the player Real shelled out big money for in 2019.

2. Midfielders

Luka Modric (CM) - Rumoured to have signed a new contract at the club having agreed to take a pay cut. Still one of the best midfielders in the world despite being in the twilight of his career.

Federico Valverde (CM) - Started at right-back against Liverpool on Wednesday night and actually did a decent job. Likely to be moved into midfield in the absence of the suspended Casemiro.

Toni Kroos (CM) - As good as Luka Modric is, this man isn't far off. Makes the game look effortless at times and is a mainstay in the Real midfield three.

3. Forwards

Marco Asensio (RW) - Arguably the least glamorous of Real's star-studded frontline but by no means any less important. Does a lot of work for the good of the team and has started to look more clinical in recent months.

Karim Benzema (ST) -
Another Real superstar who is reportedly on the verge of penning fresh terms with the club. Pivotal to Zidane's style of play and is arguably their most important player.

Vinicius Junior (LW) - Reportedly pinpointed by Real as one of their key players in years to come and so will definitely not be leaving this summer. That goes to show how valued he is and he's shown in glimpses what a superstar he can be.
