The Liverpool lineup that should start against Crystal Palace

Alright, so calling it a 'miracle' is a bit strong, but nobody expected Liverpool to make the top four a few months ago.

Jurgen Klopp's side have offered a dismal defence of their Premier League title, though nobody can argue that they've not been massively hampered by the amount of injuries they've suffered.

The Reds host Crystal Palace on Sunday knowing a win should be enough to secure their place in the top four unless Leicester absolutely demolish Tottenham - we're ruling nothing out after the season we've just watched.

Ahead of the crucial final day clash, here's how we think Klopp's starting XI will look as Anfield opens its doors to the fans for the first time this season.

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Alisson Becker (GK) - The hero of the hour last week against West Brom. The Brazilian shot-stopper has had his wobbles this season but he'll undoubtedly retain his place between the sticks for the biggest game of Liverpool's season.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB) - The England man is another who's struggled to replicate his brilliant form of last season, though he's looked much better of late and will be key to breaking down the Palace backline.

Nathaniel Phillips (CB) - Played like a prime Paolo Maldini at Burnley in midweek. Pulled out some big performances when his side needed him most and is likely to be given the nod at centre-back.

Rhys Williams (CB) - Didn't look as solid as Nathaniel Phillips at Turf Moor and struggled to contain Chris Wood at times, but given his lack of experience he's done well this season in the circumstances.

Andy Robertson (LB) - One of the few Liverpool players who's been pretty consistent this season. Started every game of the Reds' campaign - only once failing to complete the full 90 minutes - and is one of the first names on the team sheet.

2. Midfielders

Thiago Alcantara (CM) - Hasn't had the impact Reds fans would have been hoping for in the midfield, though his form has improved of late and he was superb at The Hawthorns last week.

Fabinho (CM) - Stepped into defence at times this season but Liverpool really missed his influence in midfield. Klopp's side look to have so much more control with him in the middle of the park.

Georginio Wijnaldum (CM) - Very likely to be his Merseyside swansong as he nears an exit. Would be a fitting send off if he was to play a major role in securing a top four spot.

3. Forwards

Mohamed Salah (RW) - Hopefully his quest for the Golden Boot doesn't impact his game and ultimately hamper Liverpool's chances on Sunday, but Klopp can't afford not to start his top scorer.

Roberto Firmino (CF) - Perfect timing to rediscover his goalscoring touch in recent weeks. Has bagged three in his last three games after going 12 Premier League outing without a goal.

Sadio Mane (LW) - May still be struggling for goals but made a crucial contribution at Burnley on Wednesday. Played a huge part in the first two goals and despite some missed chances he looked much more like his old self.
