There are very few things in football more enduringly enjoyable than seeing a speedy wide player burst past a defender.

And, thankfully, we are blessed with watching that week in, week out in the Premier League.

In order to celebrate the greatest speedsters in the greatest football league in the world, we thought we do a deep dive of stats from the 2022/23 season to find out who the fastest player in the Premier League is:

5. Darwin Nunez

Club - Liverpool
Top speed - 36.53 km/h

Kicking off our top five is Liverpool's new number nine Darwin Nunez.

The forward can play either out wide or through the middle and, regardless of where he plays, is always a threat with his lightning quick runs in behind.

4. Anthony Gordon

Top speed - 36.61 km/h

Signed for a whopping £45m in January 2022, Newcastle United have very high hopes for dynamic winger Anthony Gordon.

And judging by his 36.61 km/h and his inch perfect cross to assist Sandro Tonali against Aston Villa recently, you can see why.

3. Mykhailo Mudryk

Another big money January 2022 signing, Mykhailo Mudryk is a key part of the Todd Boehly revolution at Chelsea.

The Ukrainian star's pace down the left wing will cause Premier League teams plenty of problems throughout his time at Stamford Bridge.

2. Brennan Johnson

Put simply: Nottingham Forest probably aren't in the Premier League this season without Brennan Johnson.

The Welsh forward is a match-winner on his day.

1. Kyle Walker

Despite being 33 years old, Kyle Walker is still astonishingly quick.

His quickness, and general brilliance, has helped Man City to a remarkable five Premier League titles in recent seasons.
