With money tighter than ever in Football Manager 2022, hunting wonderkids can be a bit tricky.

With teams prepared to demand astronomical figures for their prized youngsters, it's important to find those future superstars who can still be picked up for pocket change. It's your lucky day, because we've done the hard work for you.

Here are the cheapest wonderkids available on FM22 after the Winter Update.

Defenders

Ben Nelson
Leicester

One of very few defenders on this list, centre-back Nelson boasts 13 heading and 12 marking, so he's going to be a real rock in academy football.

Giorgio Scalvini
Atalanta

Scalvini is already a man-mountain at just 17 years old. Standing at 194cm, he's got the highest current ability of anyone on this list.

Midfielders

Isaac Babadi
PSV

Babadi, a 10 who is comfortable in a deeper role as well, is already blessed with some excellent passing skills.

Arthur
FLU

An attacking midfielder with a nice blend of height and agility, Arthur can't move to Europe until 2023 but should be a handy little player by the time he does.

Tom Bischof
Hoffenheim

Bischof is one of the better players on this list right now. He'll star in academy football and should be ready to take over the world in a few years.

Hugo Felix
Benfica

The younger brother of Joao is making waves at Benfica as well. Use him as a 10 or as more of a central midfielder.

Tobias Gulliksen
Stromsgodset

You might have to tweak your database a little to get Gulliksen to show up, but it's worth the effort. The Norway youngster is a great option in midfield or on the left.

Antoni Milambo

Antoni Milambo
Feyenoord

Milambo is 16 years old but already looks like an elite creator. 14 first touch, 14 passing, 14 technique, 14 vision and 14 pace - even if he doesn't live up to his potential, he's going to be great.

Rafael Luis
Benfica

A deep lying playmaker who is happy to be deployed at the base of your midfield, Luis is a tall, elegant creator.

Guilherme Santos
Sporting CP

He's not the tallest, but Santos is still happy battling in central midfield and using his 12 passing to get out of tricky situations.

Williot Swedberg
Hammarby IF

Swedberg always ends up getting picked up by a top side in a year or two because his club never demand too much to sell him.

Pablo Torre
R. Santander

Barcelona have just won the race to sign Torre in real life, and you can follow their lead for a bargain fee on FM22.

Forwards

Julian Rijkhoff
Borussia Dortmund

With Erling Haaland and Youssoufa Moukoko stealing the headlines at Dortmund, you should swoop to bring in Rijkhoff. He's got some great stats for a poacher.

Jayden Addai
AZ

Just 15 when the game gets underway, Addai is one of the most intriguing prospects in Europe. He's got nice dribbling stats already and could be unstoppable by the time he hits senior football.

Jamie Donley
Tottenham

Tottenham know a thing or two about producing strikers. The latest prospect to get excited about is Northern Ireland youth international Donley, who has great athleticism and a keen eye for goal at just 16.

Momodou Jaiteh
Basel

16-year-old Jaiteh has some excellent technical and physical stats but still needs to work on his mental attributes if he is to become one of the world's best strikers.

David Kalokoh
Ajax

Left winger Kalokoh projects to be an excellent left winger and boasts some excellent well-rounded stats at this early stage of his career.

Rodrigo Ribeiro

Rodrigo Ribeiro
Sporting CP

Primarily a striker, Ribeiro has some really nice stats and looks as though he'd make an excellent transition to a winger later in his career.

Jevon Simons
PSV

Soon to be 16, Simons isn't the quickest winger but is one of the taller ones and can use his 15 agility to make up for that.

Chaka Traore
Milan

Comfortable on both wings, Traore already has a whopping 15 dribbling, so he's going to cause problems even if he doesn't reach his full potential.

Jason van Duiven
PSV

With higher passing than finishing, Van Duiven looks like he could be your false nine of the future.
