The best signings for League One sides on Football Manager 2022

League One doesn't always get the love it deserves on Football Manager 2022. It's too far away from the Premier League for immediate success, but not far away enough for a long-term road to stardom.
If you're giving it a go, you need to build a team capable of surviving not only in this division, but in the Championship above it. It's a mixture of planning for the present and the future, which isn't always easy.
Here are some players to look at to get the job done.
Free agents
Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa
Former Newcastle centre-back Yanga-Mbiwa is perhaps the best free agent who is willing to make the move to League One. His 15 marking, 14 heading and 14 tackling would be huge for you.
Johnny Acosta
If you don't want Yanga-Mbiwa, 37-year-old Acosta is your man. He won't be around for much longer, but the Costa Rican would still be among the top players in the league.
Fabian Johnson
America international Johnson has some immense versatility. You can play him anywhere on either side of the pitch, but he's best-suited as a left winger.
Smart signings
Roland Lamah
Memphis
Lamah brings 15 pace, 14 dribbling and 14 crossing. The 33-year-old winger is yours for as little as £57,000.
Sammie Szmodics
Peterborough
On the transfer list at Peterborough, attacking midfielder Szmodics can be yours for £85,000.

Ebrima Darboe
Roma
You can keep dreaming about signing Darboe permanently, but the young midfielder is prepared to join you on loan.
Pablo Zeballos
River Plate (PAR)
For £45,000, you can land the 15 finishing of Zeballos. The 35-year-old is a clinical finisher and could be a real difference-maker in League One.
Young prospects
Jersson González
Independiente Santa Fe
With a potential ability of between 110-140, you might land a top-flight calibre player in Gonzalez if you're lucky. The young winger will cost you just above £500,000.
Saldanha
BAH
Saldanha doesn't have superstar potential but he does have a guaranteed ceiling of 122. That's a top Championship striker if you play your cards right.
Lucas Ramos

You might strike gold with Lucas Ramos and his 120-150 potential. He's worth around £700,000, which is a little steep for this level, but it's definitely one to consider if you've got the spare cash.
